Federal Government
US Department of Labor: Administers OSHA, Wage & Hour (Fair Labor Standards), Employment & Training Administration. Oversees OSHA, Wage & Hour regulations, WIOA Boards, and registered apprenticeship programs.
US Department of Commerce - Economic Development Administration: A source of grants, often seeking our input and support. Notable is GA-AI Manufacturing, which infused $65 million to accelerate AI adoption in Georgia's industrial sectors while complementing, not replacing, the workforce.
State Government
Department of Labor: Oversees Unemployment Insurance System and UI claims. We engage in matters related to employer taxes and member/employee UI claims.
Department of Corrections: Facilitating Second Chance Hiring opportunities.
Department of Education: Strategic advocacy for manufacturing's CTAE, Work Based Learning (WBL) policies. Administers the YouScience contract in partnership with TCSG. Houses Great Promise Partnership, a WBL resource utilized by SHAW and other members.
Technical College System of Georgia: Offers Quick Start, customized training, and connections through state offices and a network of technical colleges.
University System of Georgia: Collaborations with specific colleges including GA Tech, Kennesaw, Dalton State, and Georgia Southern.
Department of Economic Development: Supports Georgia Made and offers referrals to valuable industry resources like Centers for Innovation.
Environmental Protection Division: Advocacy for environmental permitting.
Department of Revenue: Advocacy on state tax policy and audits.
