Councils Update – September 2024
As the only non-profit Association in Georgia founded by manufacturers and solely focused on manufacturing, GAM’s member-led councils are a vital part of our work. Many of our member-companies are represented on our Councils, but there is always room for more. These upcoming Council meetings are virtual, making it easy to attend. Upcoming meetings include:
The Environmental Quality Council will meet on Tuesday, October 15, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.
The agenda will include:
- The State of Georgia’s recently published PFAS strategy including impacts on permitting, and other key developments in this area;
- An update on the House Study Committee on Navigable Streams;
- A discussion on Title V Permit Fee changes;
- Appointment of a Vice Chair for the Council. If you are interested in serving as Vice Chair of the Environmental Quality Council, please email Clay Jones (cjones@gamfg.org) and Brittney Hull (bhull@gamfg.org) by COB, Friday, October 4;
- Clay Jones and Brittney Hull will review the GAM Policy Framework and lead a discussion on GAM policy positions with regarding environmental issues;
- Open discussion regarding environmental regulatory and legislative matters ahead of the 2025 Session;
- Council members weighing options for the 2025 Engagement Plan.

The Tax Council will meet on Monday, October 21, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.
The agenda will include:
- Planning the full 2025 engagement schedule;
- Addressing latest tax Issues with Jonathan Feldman, GAM’s Tax Counsel, who will lead a discussion on the following timely issues of relevance;
- Clay Jones and Brittney Hull will review recently distributed Policy Framework and lead a discussion on GAM policy positions with regard to tax policy;
- Open discussion on members’ tax issues and other regulatory and legislative matters ahead of the 2025 session.

The Legislative and Public Policy will meet on Friday, October 25, from 10:00-11:00 AM.
The agenda will include:
- Off-Season Activities and Initial 2025 Prep, including mapping GAM’s legislative action agenda for 2025;
- A discussion on GAM’s Policy Framework, led by Clay Jones and Brittney Hull;
- Council members weighing options for the 2025 Engagement Plan.
